Sometimes… but Sometimes…
Our club’s future, particularly our financial future, relies upon the organization and implementation of our own PIONEER CENTURY® (June 8) and the Finish Line for the SEATTLE TO PORTLAND Bicycle Classic (July 13-14). No one receives formal training, no multimillion-dollar CEO is in charge, no “team building” spa getaways are offered. These events are accomplished year after year thanks to Portland Bicycling Club MEMBERS who step up to make it so. Each year, various members bring their own unique skills and abilities to the task and maintain the club’s good reputation by putting on these major events.
Sometimes you’re the cyclist/participant, but sometimes you are the volunteer/support team. Please help reduce the stress on our volunteer coordinators by volunteering for a job in one of these events.

You can sigh and roll your eyes about this, or view it as an opportunity to help the club you love, to help other local organizations with our hard-earned profits (we’ve donated $12,000 to organizations each of the past two years), and to enjoy the confidence and strength of being in a club with resources to benefit not only ourselves but also to be available for others in need. It’s a heady feeling, and you can be part of it.
Volunteers have kept our club alive and well for 53 years. What can YOU do to help take us through another?
Ann Morrow, President
